As of Tuesday, Overwatch League has officially signed a two-year contract for a media rights partnership with Twitch.
Many fans may be wondering what this means for the game and the streaming platform. Well, as part of the agreement, every live Overwatch league game will be streamed on twitch. They will be available in English, Korean and French, exclusively on Twitch.
After the announcement of the partnership, Blizzard Entertainment COO Armin Zerza expressed why this will be a good move for both companies.
“Our fans love to engage with content on Twitch, and we wanted to drive significant viewership of the Overwatch League in its inaugural season and beyond,” said Zerza, according to Keith Capstick on theScore.
This new agreement should allow for an easier viewing experience, as well as more exposure for matches. The San Francisco Shock and the Los Angeles Valiant will go head to head in the first Overwatch League match on Jan. 10, at 7:00pm ET.
