After a medical issue took Coach Steve Clifford away from the NBA, the Charlotte Hornets announced Thursday night that he will soon make his grand return to the sidelines.
Clifford has been out since Dec. 4, unable to coach due to an undisclosed medical condition. This condition, however, was recently revealed through a source from the Observer. Clifford had apparently been suffering from severe headaches, even before the season had begun.
Associate head coach Steve Silas has been leading the team in his absence. When Clifford left, the Hornets had a record of 8-13. They are now at 16-24. Silas will coach two more home games (against Utah Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder) and an away game (against Detroit Pistons) before returning to his original position.
Clifford will be speaking to the media personally about his return midday on Friday at Spectrum Center. His first official game back as head coach will be on Jan. 17 vs. the Washington Wizards.
