The Cleveland Cavaliers have reportedly traded Dwayne Wade back to his first team, the Miami Heat. In return, the Cavaliers will receive a heavily protected second-round pick.
Wade signed with the Cavs in September on a one-year deal. He has in the past said that he wanted to retire where he started, and that is in Florida with the Heat. At 36-years old, it looks Wade is getting his wish.
“The Cavs did right by him,” said a league source close to James and Wade, according to Cleveland.com.
Though this trade ultimately gives Wade what he wants, his best friend, Lebron James, might not feel the same way. Fans took to Twitter immediately with jokes about the friendship between Wade and James.
The Cavs also traded Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye, Derrick Rose, Jae Crowder and Iman Shumpert for Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance, George Hill and Rodney Hood in two other trades on Thursday.
